After Schlager's departure: Salzburg wants Altach's Stojanovic!
Alexander Schlager has left Red Bull Salzburg for Bremen. Now, an experienced replacement is to be signed.
FC Red Bull Salzburg is looking for a new goalkeeper.
He is expected to fill the void left by ÖFB goalkeeper Alexander Schlager.
The 30-year-old has since officially joined Werder Bremen >>>
As the "Salzburger Nachrichten" now report, Marcus Mann, Sporting Director of the "Bullen", has set his sights on Dejan Stojanovic.
Altach Keeper Only Available for a Transfer Fee
The 32-year-old from Vorarlberg has been the first-choice goalkeeper and a key player for SCR Altach for three years.
In Vorarlberg, Stojanovic also has a contract until 2029, meaning a transfer fee would be due for the keeper. However, this is not expected to deter Salzburg, it is said.
Salzburg Only Looking for a Second-Choice Goalkeeper
However, Stojanovic would only be considered a second-choice goalkeeper in Salzburg. Christian Zawieschitzky is firmly planned as the number one for the "Bullen" for the upcoming season.
The 19-year-old Tyrolean is considered one of Austria's biggest goalkeeping talents and already demonstrated this, among other things, with good performances at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.
Besides Zawieschitzky, however, only two other teenagers, Nikola Sarcevic (19) and Teo Hupfauf (16), are currently available as further goalkeeping options in the Salzburg squad – which is why an experienced replacement is urgently sought.
Another Option: Could an Old Acquaintance Return?
Should the pursuit of Stojanovic not be successful, Thomas Dähne could return to Salzburg.
The 32-year-old German, who already played in Salzburg from 2007 to 2014 and was last under contract with 1860 Munich, is being linked with the "Bullen" by German media.
