SK Rapid departed for their week-long training camp in Freistadt on Sunday.

Approximately half an hour's drive from there, in Perg, two consecutive friendly matches took place at the start.

Against FK Pardubice from the Czech Republic, 17-year-old striker David Polke salvaged a 2-2 draw in the final minute, while the match against namesake Rapid București from Romania ended 0-0.

Last-Gasp Equaliser

Pardubice took the lead after three minutes in the first friendly, while Rapid – playing with a flexible 4-4-2 formation – equalised in the 17th minute through an own goal following a sharp cross from new signing Tonni Adamsen.

After falling behind again in the 74th minute, Matthias Seidl set up the recently substituted youngster David Polke from the second team, with the attacking player securing the 2-2 draw.

Goalkeepers' Duel

1,300 spectators then witnessed a chance-filled second match, though without any goals. This was largely due to the in-form Romanian goalkeeper, who made brilliant saves against players like Yusuf Demir and Romeo Amane.

At the other end, Niklas Hedl had more to do in the final phase but also remained unbeaten.
