In the summer, the services of the 55-year-old were highly sought after. His contract with the Linz club was set to expire at the end of the season. Now he openly discusses offers and his future.

During the ORF program "Fußball am Sonntag" (Football on Sunday), Kühbauer was asked about a possible transfer. He openly admits that "there was something. But you don't have to do everything – without being arrogant now." When Rainer Pariasek asked where the offer came from, the Burgenland native said: "Russia. But it's not in my head that I want to be a coach there."

He reiterated that his chapter with LASK is not yet over and a move is currently not on the agenda: "It's not an issue for me right now; I am committed to LASK." The prospect of playing in the Champions League or Europa League is particularly appealing:

"I feel really comfortable at LASK; we achieved something with the lads and now have the chance to play internationally. That's not the worst thing either. So I'm not thinking about it for a second right now and I'm not lying in bed crying," Kühbauer remarked on "Fußball am Sonntag".
