It's official: Full-back Benjamin Böckle joins SCR Altach.

Altach confirmed this on Thursday evening. The 24-year-old left-back signs a contract with the Vorarlbergers until 2029.

In recent days, a return to the Ländle had been on the cards for Dornbirn-born Böckle, although Rapid coach Johannes Hoff Thorup initially resisted. However, on Thursday afternoon, a turnaround occurred.

Via Germany to Vienna

Böckle was developed in the Red Bull Salzburg academy, then played for Liefering and was under contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf - where he, however, did not make the breakthrough.

After promotion with Preußen Münster in 2024, Böckle moved to SK Rapid, but it was only during his loan spell with WSG Tirol last season that he got regular playing time. In 2025/26, he made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and assisting two others.

Altach's sporting director says: "With Benjamin Böckle, we are gaining a player from the region who already knows the league very well. Despite his young age, he already brings a lot of experience. We are also pleased to have another Vorarlberger in the team with him."

Böckle himself is quoted as saying: "It feels special to be able to play in the Bundesliga in my home region. Vorarlberg is not just any place to me – I grew up here, and that's precisely why I'm even more excited to play for SCR Altach now. The long-term contract shows me that the club believes in me, and I want to repay that trust on the pitch."

At Altach, Böckle is expected to replace Mohamed Ouedraogo, who is likely to move to Olympique Lyon.
