Wacker after comeback: "Legends live longer"
The Tyroleans are in the Cup round of 16 after an incredible final phase in Linz. Coach Siller sees parallels to the club's history.
FC Wacker Innsbruck's fairytale added another chapter on Saturday.
Against LigaZwa top favorite FC Blau-Weiß Linz, the Tyroleans were almost hopelessly 0:2 down in the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup until the final phase. Three goals within twelve minutes still brought Wacker into the round of 16 for the first time in six years (Match report>>>).
"This is the history of FC Wacker Innsbruck. We seem to be dead, but legends live longer," cheers Wacker coach Sebastian Siller on the "ORF" microphone.
Match-winner Tekir: "In training, I scored the exact same goal"
"I have no words," adds match-winner Rami Tekir. The former ÖFB top talent, after a total of three ACL tears, is now playing again for his home club and scored the winning goal in Linz directly from a corner.
"On Tuesday during set-piece training, I scored the exact same goal. I wanted to risk it today too. It worked out and became a dream goal," said Tekir.
Meanwhile, there is bewilderment in the blue and white camp. Coach Michael Köllner explains: "We played a furious 30 minutes and dominated Wacker. Then we failed to score the third goal."
