WSG Tirol shows no weakness with ten men in Leithaprodersdorf

SV Leithaprodersdorf loses 0-4 against WSG Tirol in the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup, despite having a man advantage.

The Tyrolean visitors controlled the game from the start without expending much effort. Captain Lukas Hinterseer got the first chance after almost ten minutes but narrowly missed the target.

Shortly after, the team from Wattens managed to take an early lead: Oswald received a diagonal pass from Olakigbe on the right wing and lifted the ball into the middle, where FAK returnee Moritz Wels was waiting and headed it in at the far post from close range (13').

Wels adds a second goal

Leithaprodersdorf showed absolutely nothing offensively, while WSG repeatedly created chances. Hinterseer alone was denied twice by goalkeeper Haberl (20', 23'). Wels did better and completed his brace after a cross from Olakigbe – 0-2 in the 32nd minute.

After the break, the game initially continued in the same vein. In the 53rd minute, Olakigbe cut in from the left and blasted the ball into the far corner for the 0-3.

After the third conceded goal, the hosts showed a bit more initiative, and Beran had the first two good chances for Leithaprodersdorf. However, he was denied once by Eckmayr in the Tyrolean goal (54') and narrowly missed the target shortly after (58').

Ten Wattens players suffice for the win

A big chance for Leithaprodersdorf arose after 71 minutes. Gschösser brought down the breaking-through Koch just inches outside the penalty area and was sent off for it, leaving the Tyroleans with ten men.

Beran took the resulting free-kick, but Eckmayr saved again. Nevertheless, the final goal belonged to WSG: Goiginger elegantly controlled a long ball and laid it off to Frederiksen, with the Dane completing the co-production of the two substitutes for the 0-4 (87').

SV Leithaprodersdorf exits the competition in the second round after their sensational start to the ÖFB Cup against Admira, while WSG Tirol advances to the round of 16.
