Lustenau takes time for emphatic victory in Lafnitz

SV Lafnitz loses 2-6 against SC Austria Lustenau in the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup.

Already in the second minute of play, the net bulges for the first time: Precious Benjamin's shot is blocked, but the rebound finds its way to Weixelbraun. The Rapid loan player immediately fires a volley, giving Lustenau an early 1-0 lead.

Quick Response to the Lightning Start

Regional league team Lafnitz, however, is anything but impressed by the Vorarlberg team's lightning start and responds with an equalizer just five minutes later. Lema sends Dajcman down the right wing, and Akrap taps his cross into the net for the 1-1 equalizer (7').

Still in the early stages, Lustenau gets a chance to restore their lead from the penalty spot. Lafnitz goalkeeper Angeler had fouled Weixelbraun in the box, and Delaye steps up for the resulting penalty. However, Angeler makes up for his mistake by saving Delaye's attempt from the spot (10').

Lafnitz Turns the Game Around

Lafnitz not only keeps pace with the Bundesliga side but also creates its own chances. The East Styrians are rewarded for this with a second goal. Creative player Forobosko sends Lema through the gap into the box. Alone in front of goal, Lema beats Lustenau goalkeeper Böhm to make it 2-1 for the regional league team.

The Vorarlberg team increases the pressure while trailing, but hardly creates any real chances. Only a run by starting eleven debutant Anilson down the right side leads to a breakthrough, and Jastremski converts the Brazilian's cross into the net, equalizing for Lustenau (39').

Class Prevails Late

After the break, an intense, evenly matched game develops, until Lustenau seals the decision with a double strike.

In build-up play, Lafnitz loses the ball to Weixelbraun, who sets up substitute Verinac in the middle. Verinac taps it in, and in the 71st minute, Lustenau leads again. Just three minutes later, Benjamin adds the 2-4 after Verinac's attempt had just failed (74').

It gets particularly bitter for the increasingly tired Lafnitz team in the 85th minute. Under pressure, Bradaric plays a disastrous back pass into his own net. Shortly after, freshly substituted Ismailcebioglu makes it 2-6 for the Bundesliga side (88').

Lafnitz exits the ÖFB Cup in the second round despite a respectable performance, while Lustenau's journey in the national cup continues.
