Austria Lustenau to host traditional German club for friendly match
The Bundesliga club from Vorarlberg can look forward to a prominent friendly opponent in October.
Austria Lustenau can look forward to a true traditional club. The Vorarlberg club will host German Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 for a friendly match on the first October weekend.
The match will take place on October 2nd, 3rd, or 4th at the SUN MINIMEAL Arena. The exact date of the match will be announced in the coming days, as the club stated on its homepage.
Shared Sponsor Connects Clubs
The contact between the two clubs came about through their common sponsor, SUN MINIMEAL. The company was Schalke's main shirt sponsor for the past two seasons and is also closely associated with Austria Lustenau.
For Lustenau, this provides an opportunity to compete against a traditional German club that also has several Austrian connections.
Muslic and Three ÖFB Internationals Come to Lustenau
Tyrolean Miron Muslic has been on the sidelines of the "Knappen" since 2025. The 43-year-old led Schalke back to the German Bundesliga last season.
Three ÖFB internationals are also currently under contract with the traditional German club: Maximilian Wöber, Dejan Ljubicic, and Junior Adamu. Should they not be called up by national coach Ralf Rangnick for the upcoming international break, the three Austrians could be part of the squad for the friendly against Lustenau.
The match falls precisely during the next international break.
