After Zurich Exit: LAFC Reaffirms Commitment to Wacker Innsbruck

As part of a strategic realignment, the Los Angeles Football Club sold its shares in Grasshopper Club Zurich. However, this change of direction should not have a negative impact on the Tyroleans.

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced a strategic realignment of its European involvement on Monday.

As a result, the Americans divested their shares in the traditional Swiss club Grasshopper Club Zürich.

Contrary to initial fears, however, the move has no impact on the partnership with FC Wacker Innsbruck – quite the opposite: Following the change of course, LAFC's European involvement is to focus entirely on the Tyroleans in the future.

"Proud of development in Austria"

LAFC Co-President and General Manager John Thorrington reaffirmed the MLS club's long-term commitment in Tyrol.

"We are incredibly proud of the development in Austria. The close cooperation between LAFC and Wacker Innsbruck, as well as the passion of the traditional fans, form a strong foundation for sustainable success. We are just getting started and look forward to the upcoming season," Thorrington explained.

Partnership to be intensified

The partnership will continue to focus on the sporting and economic development of the traditional club.

Plans include close cooperation in scouting, joint marketing projects, and direct pathways in player development. The goal is to position both clubs competitively in modern professional football in the long term.

This summer, Adrian Wibowo became the first player to move from LAFC to FC Wacker Innsbruck.
