"Everything went against us" - Vienna shocked after 0:6

First Vienna FC slipped into a 0:6 debacle in the IMMOunited match of the 11th round against league leaders Blau-Weiß Linz (to the match report >>>).

With a win, Vienna could have claimed first place, but instead, Halloween night turned into a disaster.

The Linz side particularly benefited from an early red card against the hosts. Romeo Vucic became the match-winner with three goals. Vienna has to accept a severe setback after seven consecutive wins.

Vucic: "That's what opened the game up"

It's a special evening for Romeo Vucic. The 23-year-old scored his seventh, eighth, and ninth goals of the season and was accordingly satisfied after the final whistle.

"I believe this is a very, very beautiful evening for me and for the entire team. The result speaks for itself," explained the attacker in an "ORF" interview.

The early red card against Bernhard Luxbacher gave his team additional momentum. "That's what opened the game up, it gives the whole team such momentum," said the new leader of the top scorers list.

Bauer: "We must not expose ourselves like that"

On Vienna's side, disillusionment reigns after their biggest defeat of the season. "Today, I think, was really not our day. We started poorly and then everything pretty much went against us," concluded defensive leader Jürgen Bauer.

The 28-year-old was particularly critical of the performance after the break. The Viennese side presented themselves too naively and allowed Linz too much space.

"We must not expose ourselves like that, to concede so many goals," Bauer didn't mince words.

While Blau-Weiß Linz extends their league lead with 28 points, Vienna remains their primary pursuer with 25 points. There's a chance for redemption next Friday. Vienna will face Young Violets away.

BW Linz will play FAC on Saturday.
