Crazy Stoppage Time! Vienna Rescues Point Against Liefering
The "Jungbullen" lead 2-0 while shorthanded, before Vienna scores two quick goals in stoppage time to equalize.
First Vienna FC avoids another defeat against the "Jungbullen" after last week's 1-4 loss to Austria Salzburg.
In the IMMOunited match of the 3rd round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, FC Liefering takes a 2-0 lead at Hohe Warte, but Vienna still manages to equalize in stoppage time.
The Salzburg team finishes the match with ten men, as debutant Filip Matijasevic is sent off with a second yellow card shortly after halftime. Nico Masching (34.) and Kenneth Tejiri (62.) score for the "Jungbullen". For Vienna, Benjamin Rosenberger (90.+2) and Youssouf Soukouna (90.+3) are successful.
Liefering Lead After a Corner
In the first half of Sunday's matinee, fans in Vienna-Döbling don't witness an attacking spectacle. After Vienna's Raul Marte shoots over the goal (7.), chances from open play are rare.
Thus, a set-piece leads to the first goal of the match. Following a corner from Ilia Ivanschitz, Nico Masching heads the ball in relatively unchallenged for Liefering's 1-0 lead (34.). Vienna goalkeeper Bernhard Unger gets a hand to the ball but cannot prevent the goal.
Shortly before halftime, Matijasevic surprises goalkeeper Unger with an attempt from a greater distance. The custodian tips the ball over the goal (43.).
Vienna Comeback in Stoppage Time
At the start of the second half, the "Jungbullen" have a false start. Matijasevic goes for the ball but, while sliding, hits opponent Youssouf Soukouna. For the incident, Matijasevic receives his second yellow and is sent off with a yellow-red card (54.).
After the red card, Vienna picks up the pace. In-Gyom Jung (57., 59.) and substitute Christoph Monschein (58.) get shots on goal. However, the second goal comes at the other end.
Following a quick advance into the penalty area, Tejiri skillfully gets past his opponent and shoots. Unger parries the ball, but Tejiri follows up and heads the ball into the net (62.).
Afterward, Vienna takes the initiative but for a long time finds no solution against the "Jungbullen"'s defense. In stoppage time, however, the Viennese still manage the comeback.
Benjamin Rosenberger scores directly from his free-kick (90.+2), the ball possibly taking a slight deflection. Immediately after, Soukouna puts his foot to a low cross and scores the 2-2 equalizer.
