First Season Win: Admira Defeats Nine Graz Players
After a botched start to the season, Admira Wacker secures their first three points against SK Sturm II. The Graz team sees red twice in the final phase.
Admira Wacker celebrates their first win of the new season in Styria.
In the third round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, the Lower Austrians secure a 2-0 away victory against SK Sturm II. Justin Forst scores the opening goal with an absolute dream strike (14'). Turgay Gemicibasi adds the finishing touch (90+3').
The visitors started the match better; Elias Lorenz would have been beaten by Gemicibasi's shot, but Jonas Locker cleared it off the line with a header (6').
Forst Puts Admira Ahead with Dream Goal
Eight minutes later, Admira takes the lead: Forst converts a cross from Felix Holzhacker with a superb volley into the Graz goal.
Subsequently, the hosts grew stronger, but shots from Maurice Malone (18'), Wisler Lazarre (21'), and Barne Pernot (22') failed to find the net.
Before halftime, the Südstädter had a chance for a second goal: After a superb through ball from Benjamin Nyarko, Forst was denied by Sturm goalkeeper Elias Lorenz (41').
Forst Meets His Match in Lorenz
After the break, it was the hosts who had the first good chance: A weak headed back-pass from Lars de Wit put Clemens Steinbauer under pressure, but he managed to clear just before Malone (51').
Subsequently, Forst had good opportunities but couldn't get the ball past the strong Lorenz: First, the Admira attacker was denied by the Sturm keeper at the edge of the six-yard box (58'), shortly after, Lorenz again distinguished himself with a strong save against the 23-year-old (65').
The Graz team became more active afterwards but without creating any clear-cut chances. At the other end, a half-volley from Benjamin Glitia from around 20 meters went just over the bar (73').
Two Sturm Players Sent Off - Gemicibasi Scores
Sturm's only real threat came from a free-kick by Thomas Gurmann from a tight angle, but Steinbauer was able to defuse it (81').
In the final sprint, the hosts also weakened themselves twice:
First, Lazarre angrily kicked the ball away after having received a yellow card just four minutes earlier, and was shown a yellow-red card (86'). In stoppage time, substitute Niklas Geyrhofer made a blunder and committed a professional foul, also having to leave the field early (90+2').
Gemicibasi converted the ensuing free-kick to make it 2-0, securing the final score (90+3').
