The first chance in a match primarily characterized by long balls and duels falls to the visitors. However, La'Sean Sealey cannot get to a cross from Anteo Fetahu, who had broken through on the right side (10.).
Shortly after, the ball finds the net, but Fabian Schubert had started from an offside position for his supposed opening goal (13.).
Controversy after alleged handball in the box
A moment of controversy follows in the middle of the first half: Daniel Goriupp makes a run down the right side, and his cross strikes William Rodrigues' upper arm as he falls in the penalty area – but referee Josef Spurny does not point to the spot.
In the final phase of the first half, the Vorarlbergers still have a chance to take the lead. Genta Omotehara is played through with a through ball into the box, but sends his shot just wide of the goal (45.).
Voitsberg's late offensive goes unrewarded
Even after the break, clear-cut chances remain scarce for a long time. A Sealey cross immediately after the restart finds no taker (47.), while at the other end, Rodrigues is able to block a shot from Fabian Schubert (59.).
A quarter of an hour before the end, the Styrians get dangerously close to goal twice through Schubert: After a corner kick, the ASK striker heads the ball into the hands of goalkeeper Peter Aizawa (74.), shortly after, the former Bundesliga player fires a shot over the goal following a headed assist from Tristan Brukk (76.).
The hosts push for a win in the final minutes, while Bregenz aims to hold onto the draw.
However, Voitsberg fails to score any goals this evening. A shot by substitute Christopher Wölbl in stoppage time is blocked (90.+3), and Philipp Scheucher fires a shot from a tight angle wide of the goal (90.+7).
