Disastrous start confirmed! Kapfenberg also loses against Innsbruck
The Styrian side has to concede defeat against the promoted team and is still waiting for their first points of this 2. Liga season.
In the 3rd round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, Kapfenberger SV loses 0-1 against promoted side Wacker Innsbruck.
Man of the match is Mouhamed Sy with his winning goal in the 71st minute.
Few clear-cut chances in the first half
Kapfenberg striker Rostas had the first scoring opportunity. Sprinting past the defenders on the right, he attempted a powerful shot from a tight angle (12'). However, the ball went just over the goal.
Pranjkovic had the biggest chance in the 20th minute. The goalkeeper's clearance flew through the ranks and reached the Kapfenberg attacker. In a one-on-one situation, Wacker keeper Kirchmayer emerged victorious.
Wacker Innsbruck had more possession but couldn't create any clear-cut chances in the first half.
Innsbruck comes out more determined after the break
In the 53rd minute, the Tyroleans already thought they had scored. After a half-chance, Bright Owusu got to the ball and shot. The Kapfenberg outfield players managed to clear the ball off the line with combined efforts. Substitute Evans also had the lead at his feet shortly after, but missed by a whisker.
The overdue 0-1 was scored by Mouhamed Sy (71'). Evans assisted the Senegalese player, who curled the ball from the edge of the box into the top right corner.
The home team hardly became seriously dangerous in the second half. A few half-chances were easy saves for Wacker keeper Kirchmayer.
With the win, Wacker Innsbruck moves up to third place in the table. Kapfenberg remains pointless after three defeats in three games and is therefore at the bottom of the league.
