Ski Jumping Legend Sweats Over World Cup Ticket
At 45, Simon Ammann wants to give it another shot. However, the four-time Olympic champion will not receive a guaranteed spot in the World Cup.
Simon Ammann isn't done with the ski jumping circus yet!
However, the four-time Olympic champion faces an anxious wait for his World Cup ticket.
At 45, the Swiss wants to compete against the best ski jumpers in the world once again. Ammann does not, however, enjoy a guaranteed spot for the World Cup opener in Lillehammer due to his glorious past, as "Blick" reports.
"The past doesn't interest me"
Before his 30th season as a professional, the 2009/10 World Cup winner must prove himself against his teammates. Gregor Deschwanden, Kilian Peier, Sandro Hauswirth, and Juri Kesseli are already confirmed members of the Swiss ski jumping team's squad.
Three other jumpers are now fighting for the last remaining ticket – including the 45-year-old. Coach Bine Norcic makes it clear: "Whoever jumps best in training will be selected. The past doesn't interest me."
The training jumps in Oberstdorf are set to decide the matter in the coming days.
