Canadian ski racer Valerie Grenier will be out for an indefinite period.

As the 29-year-old announced via "Instagram," she sustained a knee injury two days ago during training in Sölden. She will fly home on Tuesday, and surgery is already scheduled for Friday.

Grenier will only know further details about the injury once she has undergone surgery.

More than "devastated"

"To say I'm devastated would be an understatement. Thank you all so, so much for the incredible support – it means the world to me right now," writes the Canadian.

Grenier has won three World Cup giant slaloms, most recently at the end of last season in Hafjell.
