Tibial plateau fracture, meniscus tear, and MCL rupture in her right knee - that was the diagnosis for Katharina Liensberger after a serious training crash in early January.

Ten months later, the 29-year-old from Vorarlberg is back on skis for the first time.

"It simply feels incredible to have snow under my feet again after such a long time," Liensberger wrote alongside pictures of her first "outing" on Instagram.

The first turns are done, but many more must follow on the way back. Liensberger is also aware of this:

"I could never have guessed what it cost me to get here, nor what still lies ahead of me from here, and besides a positive attitude and a constant, confident look forward – which remains the most important thing – I will approach it as I did at the beginning: day by day, because steady improvement is often the most rewarding."

Exactly when the winner of three World Cup races will be back in the starting gate is still unclear.

But one thing is certain: "Sölden and Levi are still too early for me this year."
