Austrian national team defender David Reinbacher can celebrate a victory right away in his first NHL game of the current season!

The 21-year-old from Vorarlberg, who was called up from the farm team Laval Rocket to the Montreal Canadiens earlier this week, celebrated a 4-3 home win in overtime with his team against the Buffalo Sabres.

Montreal had already taken a 3-1 lead after Bolduc (12./PP), Caufield (15.) and Texier (28.) turned the game around following an early 0-1 deficit. However, Quinn (30.) and Thompson (51.) still forced Buffalo into overtime. In overtime, Caufield (61.) secured the win for the Canadiens.

For Montreal, it is their third win in the last four games. The Canadiens currently sit in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

Reinbacher, who was drafted fifth overall by the Canadiens in 2023 but narrowly missed the cut at the start of the season, logged a total of 9:09 minutes of ice time on Saturday.

Marco Rossi Out Sick

The Vancouver Canucks had to do without Marco Rossi on Saturday. The player from Vorarlberg, reportedly out sick, had to watch as his Canucks lost 4-2 on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

It is already the seventh consecutive loss for the Vancouver Canucks, who are in sixth place in the Pacific Division.

Marco Kasper also remains sidelined due to his upper-body injury. Without the Carinthian player, the Detroit Red Wings managed at least a 4-3 victory in a penalty shootout against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

Detroit currently finds itself in seventh place in the Atlantic Division.
