Haaser with donor bone: "Hopefully not from an 80-year-old"
In February, Ricarda Haaser's shinbone head was "shattered" in a heavy fall. Now she faces a comeback in Sölden.
When the new Ski World Cup season kicks off on October 24 on the Rettenbachferner above Sölden, Ricarda Haaser will also celebrate a comeback.
It's her second within ten months. At the home World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in February 2025, the Tyrolean suffered an ACL tear. At the end of February 2026, she sustained a so-called "impression fracture" in a heavy fall during the Super-G in Soldeu.
Shinbone Head "Shattered"
Her shinbone head was literally "shattered," Haaser told the "Kurier". For this reason, the 33-year-old had a donor bone implanted. This typically comes from people who have had a hip replacement.
"Hopefully, they didn't take it from an 80-year-old woman," Haaser quipped, showing humor after a difficult period.
