For Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, the World Cup winter is over before it has truly begun.

The 34-year-old Norwegian suffered a torn Achilles tendon this week at a training camp in Chile.

It's painful news for the injury-plagued Norwegian, who has only been able to complete three World Cup races since his serious crash in Wengen in January 2024.

Kjetil Jansrud, Kilde's long-time teammate, cannot comprehend the situation after his friend's renewed injury. "An undeserved, unfair, and incredibly difficult-to-bear piece of news," Jansrud lamented to "Verdens Gang".

"Absolutely Terrible and Truly Undeserved"

Ski legend Kjetil Andre Aamodt also commiserates with his Norwegian compatriot in an interview with "TV2": "This is very sad news. A heavy blow for him, so we can only hope that he doesn't lose heart."

Norwegian downhill skier Kajsa Vickhoff also expressed her shock via "Dagbladet": "It's absolutely terrible and truly undeserved."

Shiffrin Encourages Her Beloved

Mikaela Shiffrin, engaged to Kilde since 2024, posted a short message to the public in her Instagram story: "You will come back - again."

Kilde returned to the Ski World Cup last season after a nearly two-year break. In his comeback in Copper Mountain, he immediately scored points, finishing 24th in the Super-G. In the downhill in Beaver Creek, he even placed eleventh.

After Val Gardena, however, he had to end the season prematurely and also forgo the Olympic Games. "Mind and body" were not functioning as he had imagined for the Norwegian at the time.
