Turnaround: Ex-Downhill Skier Takes Over Italian Speed Team

Surprising turnaround for Peter Fill!

The former speed specialist is now staying with the Italian ski team after all. The 2009 Super-G vice-world champion will take over the speed team for the first time.

At the end of May, everything still pointed to a separation after the Italian was missing from the published roster lists. The 43-year-old had previously worked for four years as a giant slalom coach.

Reversal and New Role

Fill himself was surprised at the time that he was not considered for a future coaching role. Now, the reversal has followed, as "sportnews.bz" reports.

"As I said back then: I didn't know why I was no longer listed as a coach in the national team. We had actually agreed on everything," said Fill.

Apparently, several colleagues had advocated for him to remain on the coaching staff. There, the two-time Crystal Globe winner in downhill will now coach stars such as Christof Innerhofer, Mattia Casse, and Florian Schieder.
