Vinzenz Rohrer's NHL dream will not materialize for the time being.

The Montreal Canadiens are sending the ÖEHV forward back to Switzerland for the upcoming season. However, the Vorarlberg native will not play for his development club, ZSC Lions, in the National League, but for EV Zug.

The 21-year-old can play "a big role" for the three-time Swiss champions, says GM Ted Suihkonen. "He has an excellent understanding of hockey and an untiring will to improve."

"Perfect for my athletic and personal development"

Rohrer is looking forward to the new challenge. "The role I get to play in Zug is perfect for my athletic and personal development," says the Rankweil native, without going into further details.

"The infrastructure is top-notch, and I have felt the trust of the EVZ management and coaching staff since the first contact – I value that enormously," says the forward.

Rohrer still has a contract with the Canadiens until 2028. Montreal can recall Rohrer to North America at any time.
