Tiebreak Battle! Miedler/Oberleitner Reach Vienna Final
The ÖTV duo will play for the doubles title on Sunday in the Wiener Stadthalle!
The ÖTV doubles pairing Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner are in the final of the Erste Bank Open!
The duo defeated the Argentinian-French duo Guido Andreozzi/Manuel Guinard 7:6(0), 7:6(9). As on previous days, this match was also played at the second venue, the Marx-Halle.
In Vienna's third district, fans saw not a single break point throughout the first set. However, the tiebreak was all the more straightforward. Miedler and Oberleitner won every point in it, prevailing 7:0.
Not for the faint of heart!
In the second set, things didn't look good for the ÖTV players at one point. They were trailing 2:5. However, with the help of the home crowd, they managed to fight their way into another tiebreak.
Their start to the decider was unsuccessful. At 4:6, they faced their first set point. Not only this one, but two more were fended off. But they also didn't close it out immediately. It took a third match point, which was finally converted for an 11:9 victory.
Lucas Miedler thus has the chance to win the Erste Bank Open for the third time. He already achieved this in 2022 and 2024 with Alexander Erler as his partner. In the final, they will await the winner of the semifinal between Cerundolo/Etcheverry and Seggerman/Tien.
