Erste Bank Open today: Daniil Medvedev - Carlos Alcaraz

In the semifinals of the Erste Bank Open, Daniil Medvedev (ATP No. 5) and Carlos Alcaraz (ATP No. 3) will face each other (starting around 3 PM CET in the live ticker >>>).

The Russian has been playing a strong tournament so far. Only in the round of 16 did he have to concede a set against Briton Cameron Norrie. In the quarterfinals, he clearly defeated qualifier Adrian Mannarino 6:2, 6:3.

Alcaraz had more difficulties in his first two matches. He also faced a strong Russian in Karen Khachanov in the first round, whom he defeated 6:4, 7:6.

In the second round, the supposedly easy draw against Nikoloz Basilashvili presented him with difficulties. Although the first set was won 6:1, the decision in the second set only came in a nail-biting tie-break, with him facing several set points. In the quarterfinals, he forced Tommy Paul to his knees with a 6:4, 7:6 victory.

In their head-to-head record, the Spaniard leads Medvedev 6:3.
