Erste Bank Open today: Tommy Paul - Carlos Alcaraz
Can fan favorite Carlos Alcaraz prevail against Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals in Vienna? LIVE information:
In the quarterfinals of the Erste Bank Open, Tommy Paul (ATP No. 14) and Carlos Alcaraz (ATP No. 3) will face each other (from approx. 3 PM in the live ticker >>>).
The American has played a flawless tournament in Vienna so far. In a high-class first round, he prevailed against Russian Andrey Rublev 7:5, 6:2. In the round of 16, he dispatched Italian Darderi 6:1, 6:1 within 49 minutes.
Alcaraz had more trouble in his first two matches. He also faced a strong Russian in Karen Khachanov in the first round, whom he defeated 6:4, 7:6.
In the second round, the supposedly easy draw against Nikoloz Basilashvili presented him with difficulties. Although he won the first set 6:1, the decision in the second set only came in a nerve-wracking tie-break, facing multiple set points against him.
In their head-to-head encounters, the Spaniard leads Paul 7:2.
