Carlos Alcaraz is in the final of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna.

The Spanish superstar defeats former tournament winner Daniil Medvedev (ATP-5th) in two sets 6:4, 7:6 (2) and reaches the final in his second appearance in the Austrian capital. Five years ago, his run ended in the semi-finals against Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz could face the German, who will be the new world number one in tennis on Monday, in Sunday's title match. Zverev must first overcome Australian Alex de Minaur. Then the dream final would be perfect.

Break to win the set

Alcaraz achieves the first break in his tenth ATP Tour duel with Medvedev, taking a 3:1 lead. However, the Russian immediately breaks back.

At 5:4, with Medvedev serving, Alcaraz manages to break his opponent's serve again, securing the first set.

In the second set, both players initially hold their serves confidently, with Alcaraz fending off a Medvedev break point at 2:2, 30:40.

Alcaraz keeps his nerve in the tie-break

In the following game, Medvedev gets into trouble, gifting Alcaraz a break for 4:2 with a botched volley at the net. However, just like in the first set, the two-time Grand Slam champion responds immediately, breaking back to love.

After that, there are no more breaks, and the decision in the second set comes down to a tie-break.

There, Alcaraz and Medvedev initially fail to hold their serves, but with five consecutive points, Alcaraz wins his fourth tie-break in his fourth match in Vienna and secures his first ever final appearance at the Erste Bank Open.
