Schwärzler reaches Mouilleron-le-Captif quarterfinals
The Vorarlberg native defeats a Brit in the round of 16 of the Challenger in western France.
Joel Schwärzler is in the quarterfinals of Mouilleron-le-Captif.
The 20-year-old Austrian defeated Britain's Harry Wendelken (ATP-178.) 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16 of the indoor Challenger on Thursday morning.
In the first round, Schwärzler had also defeated Spain's Barroso Campos (ATP-705.) in two sets (6-3, 7-5).
In the quarterfinals, Austria's number three will face France's Lucas Poullain (ATP-337.).
Thanks to reaching the quarterfinals, Schwärzler is currently ranked 181st in the live ATP world rankings. His career high is 150th. With a tournament victory, he could theoretically break that mark.
