Ofner Fails in First Qualifying Round in Montreal
After a close first set, the Austrian was chanceless against the world No. 110 in the second.
The first qualifying round of the ATP 1000 tournament in Montreal was the end of the line for Sebastian Ofner.
The Austrian had to concede defeat to Jacob Fearnley 6:7 (3), 2:6.
The world No. 124 already struggled in the first set. Nevertheless, after trailing 1:3, Ofner found his way back into the match and leveled the score.
The duel became more competitive, with a decision only being made in the tie-break. Fearnley prevailed 7:3.
In the second set, the Brit continued to dictate the pace; Ofner couldn't keep up and ultimately had to concede defeat 2:6.
