Metabolic Disorder! Leverkusen Temporarily Without Talent Eichhorn
The 17-year-old will undergo inpatient treatment before starting individual training.
Bad news for Bayer Leverkusen!
As the club announced on Saturday, the team must currently do without top talent Kennet Eichhorn.
The 17-year-old has been diagnosed with a metabolic disorder requiring treatment.
"This was preceded by excessive physical exertion and weight loss, also as a result of a gastrointestinal illness," Leverkusen writes on the club's website.
Eichhorn will now undergo inpatient treatment before he begins individual training.
"Kennet is facing what will hopefully be a very long career at the highest level. We will support him in the best possible way on this path. It is important at this point that we have initiated the right measures for his recovery and that Kennet receives the necessary time and rest for his treatment without pressure," says Sporting Director Simon Rolfes.
