Alexander Erler advances to the doubles quarter-finals in Beijing!

Together with his doubles partner Robert Cash from the USA, he defeated the Brazilian pairing Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos, who were seeded number three in the ATP 500 tournament, with 7:6 (6), 7:6 (10).

The match was incredibly close. The first set went into a tie-break without a single break of serve. Even here, it was hard to pick a stronger pairing before Erler and Cash finally prevailed 8:6.

Nerve-Wracking Second Set

The second set was even tighter. At 5:4, the Austrian-American duo squandered a match point. The Brazilians once again saved themselves by forcing a tie-break. Here, it almost seemed as if no one wanted to win the set and continue playing.

Luz/Matos squandered two set points, and Erler/Cash only converted their fifth match point to win 12:10 in a nerve-wracking tie-break.

In the quarter-finals, the Tyrolean will face either the duo Cabral/Tracy or the singles specialists Cobolli and Buse, who are playing together.
