Vikings Clinch Conference Title in Switzerland

The Vienna Vikings secured their tenth victory of the current AFLE season on Sunday with a 47:25 win. Against the Alpine Rams, quarterback Ben Holmes was once again the central factor, responsible for a total of six touchdowns.

The Vikings got off to a perfect start. Four consecutive touchdown drives secured a comfortable 25-point lead already in the first half. The Viennese offense performed with concentration and efficiency, consistently capitalizing on its chances.

Ben Holmes was once again at the center of attention. The Vikings quarterback confidently led the offense down the field, ultimately scoring six touchdowns himself. Holmes thus once again underscored his importance to the Viennese offense and his consistently strong performances throughout the season so far. Numerous Viennese receivers scored: Stewart Jr., Mayr, Seikovits, and Haun, who caused a sensation with two spectacular touchdown catches.

Despite the Vikings' clear lead, the hosts did not give up. The Alpine Rams moved the ball well over long stretches, accumulating a total of 430 yards. The Vikings' offense gained 567 yards.

The decisive difference, however, lay in efficiency. While the Vikings regularly converted their drives into points, the Rams were not as successful in capitalizing on their offensive opportunities. Thus, the Vikings were able to control their lead and ultimately celebrate a commanding 47:25 away victory.

Valuable Playing Time for the Entire Roster

With the game already under control, rotational players for the Vikings also got the opportunity to gain valuable playing time later in the game. Backup Quarterback Nico Hrouda once again performed confidently.

With their success against the Alpine Rams, the Vienna Vikings now have ten wins in the current AFLE season. With two games remaining in the regular season, the focus remains clearly on preparing for the playoffs. With Sunday's victory, they have now also secured the Conference Title and the associated home-field advantage in the semi-final.

In Week 14, the Vikings will face their final regular season home game against the Firenze Red Lions. In front of their home crowd, the team aims to conclude the regular season with another strong performance and carry the momentum towards the playoffs at the VERBUND Family Gameday on August 22nd at the Wiener Sport-Club Stadium.
