PSV Eindhoven has secured victory in the new Eredivisie season. The "Boeren" claimed a narrow 2-1 away win at Excelsior Rotterdam.

Ruben van Bommel gave the visitors an early lead (5th minute). After the break, the home side equalized through Casper Widell (54th minute), and Ricardo Pepi restored the lead shortly after (57th minute).

While Paul Wanner started for the reigning champions and was replaced by Kondai Sano in the 63rd minute, Excelsior newcomer Valentin Sulzbacher once again remained on the bench for the home team for 90 minutes.
