Thrilling Vienna Derby in AFL Wildcards
The battle for a semifinal spot in the Viennese duel remains open for a long time. Graz, however, makes short work of Salzburg.
One Vienna Derby follows another: The Vienna Vikings are in the semifinals of the Austrian Football League after a 36:25 away win against the Vienna Knights, where they will challenge the Danube Dragons.
At halftime, it's 10:8, then a back-and-forth battle ensues. Raylens Boutin becomes the key player in the Vikings' success with two interceptions.
They are followed by the Graz Giants, who make it far less exciting, beating the Salzburg Ducks 70:19. The visitors could not compensate for the early exit of defensive leader Jamario Howard (broken hand).
The Giants will face the Prague Black Panthers away from home. Both semifinals will take place next weekend (July 11/12) and will be broadcast LIVE on ORF Sport+.
The win2day Game Days Austrian Bowl XLI will be played on July 25 at the Datenpol Arena in Maria Enzersdorf.
Raiders lose again in EFA
There's no good news from an Austrian perspective regarding the European Football Alliance (EFA): The Raiders Tirol remain winless.
Their comeback attempt in the 24:32 "Battle of the Mountains" against the Ravens Munich came too late. While the Munich team continues to compete at the top, the Tyroleans remain last in sixth place.
