Kraus knocked out in Bastad quarter-finals

For Sinja Kraus, the WTA 125 tournament in Bastad, Sweden, has ended in the quarter-finals.

The Austrian had to concede defeat to Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva (WTA 84) in two sets, 2:6, 3:6.

The first set started catastrophically for Kraus. The Viennese player immediately gave up the first five games. She then managed to get a break, but could no longer win the set.

In the second set, Kraus immediately lost her first service game again. She couldn't catch up afterwards, and Putintseva ultimately secured the match win with her second break of the set.
