Humphries Misses Darts European Championship in Dortmund
The Briton cannot participate in the major event due to illness.
Darts world number two Luke Humphries misses the European Darts Championship.
Last year's finalist has to withdraw at short notice from his participation in the Darts European Championship, which starts this evening, due to a stomach bug. Kim Huybrechts of Belgium replaces him in the field of participants.
Humphries entered the major tournament as one of the top favorites. Just weeks ago, he won the World Grand Prix.
As a result, the 31-year-old will also lose a spot in the world rankings. Gian van Veen, who defeated Humphries 11:10 at last year's Darts European Championship, will become the new world number two, pushing Humphries to third place.
