Lilli Tagger secures first Osaka semi-final
The Austrian, with her partner, prevails in the doubles quarter-final. She is also still in the singles tournament.
18-year-old East Tyrolean Lilli Tagger and her Dutch partner Isabelle Haverlag continue their successful run in Osaka, eliminating the third-seeded duo Ingrid Neel (Estonia)/Giuliana Olmos (Mexico) with a 6:3, 7:6 (4) score.
This puts the Austrian-Dutch duo in the semi-finals of the WTA 250 tournament.
After a convincing first set, the two pairings engaged in a tight battle in the second set. The decision ultimately fell in the tie-break, which Tagger and Haverlag won 7:4.
Also still in singles
In the opening round, the duo had already prevailed against Nicole Fossa Huergo (ARG) and Peangtarn Plipuech (THA) with a 7:6(4), 4:6, [10:6] match tie-break victory.
Tagger is also already in the singles quarter-finals after victories against Liudmila Samsonova and Tereza Valentova. There, the tournament's top seed, Ann Li (USA), awaits.
