Triumph and Drama for Red Bull at the Tour de France

The 16th stage of the Tour de France ends for Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe with mixed emotions.
Remco Evenepoel wins the time trial on the shores of Lake Geneva and celebrates his second consecutive stage victory.
The Belgian time trial world champion and Olympic gold medalist relegates the still-dominant overall leader Tadej Pogacar (+28 sec.) to second place.
Lipowitz Abandons After Crash
For co-captain Florian Lipowitz, however, the Tour is prematurely over.
The German slid out in a corner and crashed heavily on his left shoulder. Like Jonas Vingegaard on Sunday, Lipowitz also has to abandon. The Tour de France will thus have to do without last year's second and third-place finishers in its final week.
In the same corner, Pogacar also struggled to avoid a crash – but managed to do so successfully. In the general classification, the Slovenian is 4:32 minutes ahead of Evenepoel. Pogacar's UAE teammate Isaac Del Toro continues to hold third place.
No major shifts in the overall classification are expected on Wednesday. A predominantly flat section of 174.7 kilometers from Chambery to Voiron awaits the cycling stars.
