Ofner crashes out in Kitzbühel first round
Austria's number one falls to Slovak Alex Molcan.
Sebastian Ofner's run at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel ended in the first round.
Austria's number one was defeated by Slovak Alex Molcan (ATP-81.) 4:6, 4:6 after 1 hour and 8 minutes of play.
This means that from an Austrian perspective, only Jurij Rodionov remains in the tournament.
Ofner's Slow Start
The Styrian got off to a slow start at the beginning of the match. In his opening service game, Ofner already conceded one of two breaks.
While Ofner managed a re-break at 5:2, the Slovak converted his second set point after 33 minutes.
Lack of Balance
The Styrian struggled particularly with his backhand. He also made several unforced errors in the second set, leading to an early break at 1:1.
Ofner also had difficulties with his second serve, winning only 42 percent of points after a second delivery. Molcan (ATP No. 81) played a less spectacular but more consistent game. Molcan converted his second match point to seal the victory.
