Comeback Victory: Kraus Advances in Hamburg
After losing the first set, Kraus fights her way back into the match.
Following her tournament victory in Kitzbühel, Sinja Kraus also secures a win in her opening match at the WTA 250 clay-court tournament in Hamburg.
The Viennese player prevailed against Latvia's Darja Semenistaja in three sets, winning 3:6, 6:3, 6:2.
The current world number 80 from Austria lost the first set. However, the eighth-seeded Austrian managed to turn the match around in the second set. Kraus took the set 6:3.
In the third set, the Austrian surged to a 5:0 lead against her opponent and closed out the final set 6:2.
With the win over the world number 109, Kraus advances to the round of 16 at the Hamburg Ladies Open. There, she awaits the winner of the clash between Alina Charaeva (ARM/WTA-117) and Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP/WTA-212).
