Swans Gmunden Win on Head Coach Grassegger's Debut
The Swans narrowly defeat Gunners Oberwart. Additionally, Danubz Linz celebrate a successful premiere in the Women's Superliga.
The Raiffeisen Swans Gmunden celebrate a 90:88 home victory over the Unger Steel Gunners Oberwart on Head Coach Stefan Grassegger's debut.
This marks the first time since 2023 that the Upper Austrians have secured a first-round win in the win2day Basketball Superliga. The Swans showed high intensity from the start.
Driven by over 1,350 fans, the team, led by US new signing and top scorer Coltie Young (25 PTS), built a 13-point lead (85:72) with 2:43 minutes remaining.
Strong Finish Not Enough
Oberwart, who had to do without the ill Nathan Scott, did offer a strong finish – but without a chance for a turnaround win.
"We delivered a very good performance for long stretches. In the first half, we still had problems with our transition defense – but we managed to fix that. In the end, we made it unnecessarily exciting, but still deservedly won," says Gmunden's national team player Jakob Lohr.
Linz Wins Premiere Game in the win2day Basketball Women's Superliga
The Danubz Linz win their first game in the win2day Basketball Women's Superliga with a 78:67 away victory against UBSC-DBBC Graz.
The new participants, for whom the Kolyandrova twins Maria (26 PTS) and Anna (20 PTS) are the top scorers, secured the decisive advantage in the third quarter.
