KAC in Goal-Scoring Form! Clear Victory in the Pack-Derby against the Graz99ers

In the fifth round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, KAC celebrates a clear 6-2 home victory over the Graz99ers.

The Graz team, who again had to do without ten key players due to a wave of illness, among other things, got off to a lightning start. After just 34 seconds, Paul Stapelfeldt scored to make it 1-0 for the 99ers with a powerful shot.

KAC turned the deficit into a lead thanks to two power plays before the first intermission buzzer. Nick Petersen via deflection after a Ganahl hold (9th minute/PP) and Mattias Göransson with a one-timer after a Paul Reiner tripping penalty gave the Red Jackets a 2-1 lead (14th minute/PP).

KAC Shines with Three Goals in Six Minutes

The Klagenfurt team continued the Pack-Derby in exactly the same vein. Travis St. Denis steered the puck into the net from close range just 18 seconds after the restart to make it 3-1 (21st minute).

Just three minutes later, Raphael Herburger got the puck and completed a KAC pressure phase for the Carinthians' fourth goal (25th minute). On top of that, Petersen skated around Patrick Grascher for the 5-1 and completed his brace (27th minute).

Only after a MacKinnon high-sticking penalty did the Graz team score 2-5 through Josh Currie after a dominant power play (29th minute/PP). However, KAC extended their lead back to four goals before the second intermission thanks to Will MacKinnon (36th minute).

KAC Shows Championship Form Early On

The Graz team could not recover from that. The record champions thus remain flawless in the fifth game of the new league season.

KAC leads the table with 15 points. For the 99ers, it is their second defeat in five games as reigning champions.

Bolzano Narrowly Defeats Innsbruck in the Tyrolean Derby

HC Bolzano celebrates a 4-3 away victory against HC Innsbruck.

The South Tyroleans celebrated two quick goals. Brad McClure gave HCB the lead after just 39 seconds, before Turner Elson increased it to 2-0 via a rebound (5th minute).

But the "Sharks" equalized before the first intermission. Brett Davis scored for 1-2 (13th minute), before Kevin Macierzynski ensured the 2-2 equalizer in the Tyrolean Derby (18th minute).

Although HCI took control in phases in the middle period, Cristiano DiGiacinto scored after a solo rush to give HCB a 3-2 lead (32nd minute). McClure increased it to 4-2 in the final period with his second goal (54th minute).

The "Sharks" still got to 3-4 thanks to Steven Owre (58th minute). However, it was not enough for a point. Bolzano is in third place with ten points from four games. HC Innsbruck ranks eleventh.
