BSL: Defending Champions Kapfenberg Win League Opener & Supercup
The Kapfenberg Bulls start the new season with a clear victory. The Styrians prevail against Flyers Wels, also claiming the Supercup.
The Hefte Helfen Bulls Kapfenberg have opened the new win2day Basketball Superliga season with a clear 101:78 home victory over the Raiffeisen Flyers Wels.
With their first-round victory, the reigning champions also claimed the Supercup. The Upper Styrians celebrated their 20th title in club history.
Dominant Performance
Kapfenberg, who played with a full squad except for Justin McCaw, secured a preliminary decision with a 9-0 run just minutes before halftime (43:34).
Starting the third quarter with a 7-0 run, Vitalii Zotov, who posted a double-double with twelve points and ten assists, and his team definitively swung the game in their favor.
The top scorers for the Styrians were the two US new signings Mwani Wilkinson and Zacheus Darko Kelly with 19 points each. In total, six "Bulls" scored in double digits.
The first round of the win2day Basketball Superliga will continue on Saturday with three more matches.
