The Traiskirchen Lions and the Bulls Kapfenberg have also won their respective second games of the new win2day Basketball Superliga season.

The Lower Austrians, who were already leading by double digits (83:72) against the Eagles UBSC Graz with 2:17 minutes remaining, ultimately secured a narrow 85:82 victory and defended their position at the top of the standings.

Defending champions Kapfenberg, who played without US import Alec Oglesby due to an ankle injury, prevailed against the Eisenstadt Dragonz with a dominant offensive performance, winning 108:88.

The Styrians converted 17 of their 35 three-point attempts. Zacheus Darko-Kelly, who hit seven of his ten long-range shots, was the top scorer of the game with 25 points.

St. Pölten Celebrates Successful Start

SKN St. Pölten Basketball, after having a bye on the opening weekend, successfully played their first game of the season: The Lower Austrians defeated the Pirlo Kufstein Towers 85:77. New signing Jaylen Bates contributed 27 points.

The league newcomer from Tyrol, missing guard Jose Placer-Diaz due to injury, also suffered a defeat in their second game.

The Dukes also secured a victory on Friday evening, making them the third team from Lower Austria to do so: Klosterneuburg was trailing the Flyers Wels 69:79 with just under six minutes remaining before the team, led by national team youngster Nico Zeleznik (22 PTS, 6 AS), turned the game in their favor with a decisive 17:2 run.

Defending cup champions Wels thus suffered a defeat in their second season encounter as well.
