Third Win! Salzburg keeps brave Pioneers still pointless
Even on the seventh attempt, the Ländle-Cracks fail to secure any points.
Pioneers Vorarlberg remain without a single point even after the seventh round of the win2day ICE Hockey League. Red Bull Salzburg takes a 4-1 away victory from the "Ländle".
In the eleventh minute, Nicholas Poisson scored the opener from a difficult angle, surprising goaltender Alex Caffi with his shot. In the middle period, a double power play led to the second goal, scored by Peter Schneider (25th minute).
Shortly thereafter, Logan Britt had to be helped off the ice after a heavy board check by Mario Huber; the Salzburg player received a five-minute major penalty plus a game misconduct. However, the Pioneers' power play yielded nothing more than a shot off the post by Sepälä.
Game Decided in Feldkirch's Pressure Phase
It wasn't until the final period that 19-year-old Ben Summer scored the deserved goal to reduce the deficit with a shot into the top corner, setting up an exciting final phase (43rd minute).
In line with the score, the Vorarlberg team then pressed hard for a long time, until former Feldkirch player Mathias Böhm, of all people, took the wind out of their sails with the third goal (53rd minute). Robertson sealed the deal with an empty-netter (59th minute).
For the "Ice Bulls," it is only their third victory.
