Red Bull Racing Signs Räikkönen
The son of the former Formula 1 World Champion joins the Red Bull Junior Team.
Robin Räikkönen is joining the Red Bull Racing Junior Team.
The 11-year-old son of Kimi Räikkönen, the last Ferrari world champion, has been involved in karting since early childhood and has already achieved national and international success.
He is now moving into Red Bull's development program, where talents like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen were once nurtured into world champions.
Racing Intelligence and Composure
Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies spearheaded the signing of the new talents and is convinced by the young Finn: "Robin has already demonstrated exceptional skills in karting. His speed, racing craft, and natural talent have made him one of the most promising young drivers in his age group."
Mekies intends to develop Räikkönen step-by-step and not "impose unnecessary pressure." Robin is said to be not unlike his father in demeanor: "He impresses with his maturity, his calm manner, and his clear focus on driving."
Kimi Impressed
Father Kimi expresses delight and pride over his son's move: "We are all thrilled and very happy that Robin has been selected to continue his racing career as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. Laurent and everyone else at Red Bull have been incredibly supportive throughout our discussions."
"They offer a compelling and comprehensive program to foster Robin's development in the coming years and provide him with all the experience he needs to further develop his natural talent – a talent he has already impressively demonstrated in all his karting races so far," added the 349-time Grand Prix participant.
