George Russell wins the Sprint Shootout in Zandvoort (Netherlands).

The British Mercedes driver (1:11.567) secured pole position for Saturday's Sprint in a hundredth-of-a-second thriller. Lando Norris finished second (+0.041) while Charles Leclerc landed in third place (+0.055).

Oscar Piastri (+0.099), who had been fastest in Q2, will start from fourth place tomorrow, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli (+0.227) had to settle for fifth.

Ailing Verstappen and Hamilton Off the Pace

Max Verstappen (+0.527), who is not 100 percent fit, finished sixth; Lewis Hamilton (+0.624), in sixth place himself, already had over six tenths of a second gap to the pole-setter.

Among those who failed to make it into Q3 were Liam Lawson in eleventh, who is driving the Red Bull in Zandvoort instead of the injured Isack Hadjar, and his Racing Bulls replacement, Yuki Tsunoda, in twelfth place, as well as Nico Hülkenberg in 14th.

Besides the usual suspects in the Aston Martins and Cadillacs, Oliver Bearman and Carlos Sainz were already eliminated in Q1.
