Now, FIFA is imposing harsh penalties.
Paredes will be suspended for a total of ten international matches following his outburst. In addition, he must pay a fine of 90,000 US dollars. Nahuel Molina must pay the same amount and will be suspended for seven international matches.
Further suspensions apply to Thiago Almada and the Spaniard Gavi, who was also involved in the altercations. Both will be suspended for one match and must pay 30,000 US dollars.
Penalties for the Association
Team official and former Argentinian international Roberto Ayala must pay the same amount and will also be punished with a three-match ban.
The Argentinian Football Association also receives a penalty due to the team's misconduct and discriminatory behavior by fans.
The association must pay 321,000 US dollars. Furthermore, the stadium may only be filled to 50 percent capacity for the next two home matches.
