Juventus Turin terminates contract with mega-flop
The Brazilian once cost the Italians more than 80 million euros. Now both sides have agreed to an early termination of his contract.
The decline of former Barca player Arthur Melo continues.
As Italian top club Juventus Turin announced on Friday, the contract with the Brazilian has been terminated by mutual consent. Thus, the "Old Lady" and the 30-year-old will finally part ways.
Arthur is considered one of the biggest transfer flops in world football; the midfielder once moved from FC Barcelona to Turin in 2020 for around 80 million euros. However, he was never able to establish himself there permanently.
Last Game for Juve in May 2022
Since 2022, the Brazilian has been loaned out multiple times, most recently playing for Grêmio in Brazil. Arthur, whose market value is currently estimated at four million euros by "transfermarkt.at", played his last competitive match for Juventus in May 2022.
In total, the 22-time international played 63 games for the "Bianconeri", scoring only one goal and providing one assist.
What's next for Arthur is open; as a free agent, he can choose his future club freely. He may well return to his home country Brazil again.
