ÖEHV National Team Player Zündel Does Not Accept Doping Ban
Kilian Zündel received a two-year ban for a doping offense, but now does not accept the settlement of the proceedings.
A few days ago, the ban of ice hockey professional Kilian Zündel due to a violation of the anti-doping regulations of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) became public.
Now, the Vorarlberg native, who was dismissed without notice by the Graz99ers, announced that he will not accept the possibility of an amicable settlement of the proceedings granted by the Austrian Anti-Doping Legal Commission (ÖADR).
"I have not signed the Case Resolution Agreement presented to me. Therefore, there is no legally binding decision and no ban against me," Zündel stated via Instagram.
Previously, the Graz99ers had written in a statement that Zündel would indeed agree to the settlement of the proceedings.
Zündel: "I will represent my position in the ordinary proceedings"
Now it's the ÖADR's turn again. A hearing will take place after a four-week period for a statement.
Zündel explains: "I will represent my position in the ordinary proceedings and am confident that the circumstances will be fully considered there."
The ÖEHV national team player is said to have received an intravenous infusion of a total of more than 100 ml within a 12-hour period on April 30, 2026 - after the end of the season in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
This violates the anti-doping provisions of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and its so-called "Prohibited List 2026".
Zündel clarifies, however: "As NADA Austria has also confirmed, this is a non-analytical procedure. I have not ingested prohibited substances at any time. Therefore, reducing this to doping in the sense of substance intake does not do justice to my case."
