EC KAC celebrates a clear 7:1 victory over EC Red Bull Salzburg on the first matchday of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

The Carinthians were already cheering after just 80 seconds despite being shorthanded! Initially, Jan Mursak had to go to the penalty box for a stick infraction. However, Simeon Schwinger scored with a backhand into the short top corner, catching RBS goalie Atte Tolvanen off guard (1st min/SH1).

Before the first intermission, KAC further extended their lead. Thomas Hundertpfund anticipated a puck turnover by Salzburg and scored into the long top corner for a 2:0 lead at the break (15th min).

The Carinthians continued the game in exactly the same manner. Maximilian Preiml netted from distance into the short right corner for a 3:0 lead (23rd min). Just 41 seconds later, Jan Drozg also extended the lead to 4:0.

However, Salzburg scored their first goal of the season in the final period. Dennis Robertson netted a one-timer to make it 1:4 (45th min). Another goal by Michael Raffl (45th min) was disallowed after an offside call following a coach's challenge.
